So I just read a blog by my little sis about hearts. And it was actually quite interesting. It actually surprised me how interesting it was, that I didn't think panda wrote it. I'm just kidding, I knew she wrote it I am just amazed how much she has changed right now that she is pregnant. She is only 13 weeks along and due on May 8th and a couple of weeks ago she was able to hear the heartbeat for the first time. She was telling me all about it and it got me thinking about how much she has changed since she moved out to MN. So I decided to write a couple of my favorite memories of Panda growing up.
1. My first memory of panda was when we were little and we still shared a bedroom. Manda is the worst person to sleep by because she moves around like crazy. I remember one night I woke up to Amanda crying and it sounded a little muffled. I couldn't find her on the bed so I looked under the bed. And sure enough her head was stuck under the bed and she couldn't get out.
2. I remember walking with Manda to the Merc to go and get Swedish fish, Manda's favorite, and one time Manda went with wet hair. Now honestly we didn't think it was that cold out. But by the time we made it to the store Manda's hair was frozen. My mom freaked out, she was afraid it would break off on the way home. So we waited there until it thawed back out.
3. Most of my favorite memories of Panda was in Cedar Hills. She didn't like most of the people there because they were all crazy molly Mormons (one time Manda had her friends over to watch Clueless and the next day they all said they felt guilty for watching a pg-13 movie- I know they're weird). And I was a starving college student who kept going home to eat some food. So we hung out all the time. I remember one time we both were really sick with the flu and we spent 2 days in bed resting and watching Night at the Roxbury. The best was when my mom decided one day to stay home and take care of us because she really didn't want to work that day. I would have to say Cedar Hills was when we grew the closest.
4. Last one. One of the funniest times I had with Panda was in Oregon. I came up to visit my family. Well both of my parents were at work, and Manda didn't have school or work....wait I don't think she ever had a job while in Portland, she was so spoiled. Anyways I was getting out of the shower and I went to grab the towel off of the towel bar. (The towel bar is quite a ways away from the shower and I didn't want to get the rug wet by stepping on it.) So I just stretched as far as could to reach the bar and as soon as I grabbed a towel the bar broke. I fell so fast to the floor that I couldn't even catch myself with my hands. Manda heard the loud noise and came in to see what happened. When she walked in all she saw was my big butt on the floor. I just laid there dazed while Manda laughed her head off.
I just can't believe how much she has grown up. I remember seeing her as a little girl with long brown hair and it was always messy. She would brush it in the morning and by lunch it looked all snarled and crazy. I remember her in Kindergarten coming into my 6th grade class because I told her I would play with her on the playground once a week. I remember helping her trying out for cheerleading in Junior high and she was so amazing, she looked better than I did the 2nd year I tried out. But we practiced for 3 hours just on her cheer and she never told me to go away. I remember driving with her when she was 16 and telling her the light was a long yellow when in fact it was very short. The best one was when I was with her when she picked out her wedding dress and my tiny sister had to get a size 0 and they still had to bring it and inch on the waist. She looked amazing and so small.
But the best one of all has not happened yet because in May I get to see her have her first baby, and I can't wait. She is going to be the best mom and I am so proud of her. Her and Shaun are going to be such good parents. I am so excited for both of them. They are the cutest couple and they work together on everything. I have no doubt they will do just fine...mostly because Shaun is wrapped around Amanda's finger. He would do anything for her and that is so sweet.
